Altar Servers

It is a blessing to wait on the Table of the Lord as an Altar Server.  Holy Cross has sixty-four trained Altar Servers, who gather socially at least twice a year to get to know one another.  All young men and women who have received their First Holy Communion and are willing to commit to serve for a month at a time are welcome to join this ministry.Training for new Altar Servers in conducted several times during the year with announcements of the training session published in the church bulletin. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers assist the priest in distributing Communion during the Mass.  Some Extraordinary Ministers also bring Communion to shut-ins and the ill.  After a training period, Extraordinary Ministers should be willing to contact a substitute if unable to attend the assigned Mass time.  There are currently seventy-four lay Extraordinary Ministers serving Holy Cross Parish.

Lectors 

 

 

Lectors proclaim the “Word of God” during Mass through the readings from the Sacred Scriptures.  Jesus is present in His word, since it is He Himself who speaks when the Holy Scriptures are read in the church.  Lectors must attend one training session, be Confirmed in the Catholic Church and be willing to contact a substitute if unable to attend the assigned Mass.  There  are forty Lectors who serve the parish.If you are willing to dedicate your time to one weekend Mass for one month a year or a Holy Day Mass, and if you are comfortable speaking in front of the congregation, please contact Charlie Breeding (644-8883) or Bob Lundergan (993-7514).

Music Ministry 

Recognizing the need to fully participate in the Divine Liturgy and other Sacramental Celebrations, the Choirs of Holy Cross Catholic Church seek to encourage our faith community to praise, worship and petition God in their joyous lifting of voices in song.  All of our parish choirs welcome new voices and musicians to join them.

 

Traditional Choir

The traditional Adult Choir practices every Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm.  If you are interested in singing with the Adult Choir, please contact Kathleen Skotcher at 993-4370 or email at kskotcher@aol.com

 
Agape

Agape is a contemporary music group (Folk Group) led by Ron Ricci. Agape practices every Thursday night from 8:00 PM until 10:30 PM and warms up one hour before Mass. Agape’ leads worship in song at the 11:15 AM Mass all Sundays except the first Sunday of the month. On that weekend we switch to 5:30 PM Saturday. All ages and talents are welcome. Harvest

Harvest is a contemporary music group (Folk Group) which provides music for the second Saturday 5:30 pm evening Mass each month and usually practices the first and third Tuesday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm in the church.  We welcome all adults of all ages to share their musical talents.  For more information, please contact June Harley or Melodi Evans.

 

"JAM"Jesus and Me

"JAM" (Jesus and Me), the Youth Choir,  is led by June Harley (993-7398) and Melodi Evans (993-4042). All children and young adults from grade 2 through high school, regardless of musical or singing ability, are invited to join in the celebration of the Mass through music.  Practices are held the second and last Tuesday evenings of each month in the church  from 7 pm to 8:30 PM.  JAM leads the music at the 11:15 AM Youth Mass held on the first Sunday of each month.

 

Hispanic Music Ministry

The Hispanic Music Ministry for the 2 PM Sunday Hispanic Liturgy is led by Guillermo Cruz.  New voices and musicians are always welcomed.  If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Guillermo Cruz at 785-3289.

 

 

Sacristans

 

The Sacristans prepare the environment for worship prior to each Mass and serve as coordinators for all other liturgical ministers during the Eucharistic Celebration.  There are eighteen Sacristans who serve an average of eight hundred and fifteen families each weekend at Holy Cross.  If you are a practicing Catholic, responsible and reliable, male or female and are interested in assisting as a Sacristan, please contact Herb Pennington, Coordinator (785-1948).

Ushers

The Ushers are liturgical ministers who distribute materials, help with seating, take up the Offertory collections, and assist with order at Communion.  By their ministry of hospitality, Ushers are in the forefront in setting the tone of the parish to newcomers.There are one hundred seventy-two Ushers serving the Faith Community at Holy Cross.  If you are sixteen years old or older ( male or female), responsible and willing to commit to a month of service at a weekend Mass, and you would like more information about training as an Usher, please contact Herb Pennington at 785-1948.
